Police accuse woman of letting minors drink

Buffalo police twice broke up an underage drinking party Saturday on the West Side, and the second time they arrested a 34-year-old woman who ignored their earlier warning not to allow minors to drink alcohol.

Karen Molina, of Hampshire Street, was charged with misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child, according to a police report.

The first time officers responded to a loud music complaint at the Hampshire Street residence, they removed about 25 minors. The officers said they warned her she would be held responsible if they returned and found any minors drinking.

The second time officers went to the residence, at about 1:40 a.m., they found more than 50 minors in her home, several of whom were drinking alcohol. The officers also smelled marijuana.

Molina's 8- and 16-year-old daughters were home during the party.

Before her arrest, Molina told an officer she "would rather have them drinking and smoking in her home rather than out in the streets," according to the police report.
