Pittsburgh 8, Tampa Bay 1: Evgeni Malkin had his ninth career hat trick, Jordan Staal added two goals and the Penguins won for the fifth time in seven games by routing the Lightning.

St. Louis 3, Winnipeg 2 (SO): The Blues' David Perron scored the winning goal in the shootout.

Phoenix 3, Edmonton 1: Mike Smith stopped 21 shots for his 10th straight victory and the Coyotes won for the fifth time in a row.

Washington 4, Toronto 2: Alexander Semin and Jeff Halpern scored, and Alex Ovechkin picked up a pair of assists to lead the Capitals.

Boston 5, Ottawa 3: Patrice Bergeron had two goals and an assist for the Bruins, who moved five points ahead of the Senators in the Northeast.

Los Angeles 4, Chicago 0: Dustin Brown had a hat trick and Jonathan Quick earned his NHL-best seventh shutout by making 19 saves.

Philadelphia at Calgary: The Flyers have been shut twice in February.

AHL: Rochester 4, Lake Erie 3: Igor Gongalsky's goal ended a marathon 15-round shootout and gave the Amerks the win. David Leggio stopped 13 of 15 shots and Rochester came back from a two-goal deficit.
