Coin collection, other items stolen in Hamburg

Hamburg police are seeking information about the burglar who stole a sizable coin collection and other items from an Exeter Terrace home at about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 15.

The thief is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build.

Police also released a sketch of the burglar.

Anyone with information regarding the man or his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Thomas Brown at 648-5118, Ext. 2619.

One arrest is made in knifepoint break-in

BROCTON -- A Westfield man was arrested and jailed Thursday as the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office continues to track down another suspect in the knifepoint break-in at a West Main Street apartment at about 8:15 p.m. last Friday.

Angel L. Rivera, 23, was identified by the 20-year-old victim as one of the masked men who broke into his flat and rushed him. Rivera was charged with second-degree burglary and is facing further charges in the case, sheriff's officials said.

Rivera was unmasked during a struggle with the victim, officials said.

Man accused of running sex trafficking ring

A Rochester-area man faces up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine for allegedly running a sex trafficking ring of minor girls at upstate New York hotels, including in Buffalo, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. reported.

Thomas Cramer, 40, is accused of enticing the girls under age 18 for the prostitution-related activities. In one of the cases, Cramer sent a text message to a girl telling her she could make "much more money performing commercial sex acts than she could working at a grocery store," according to Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Rogowski.

The criminal complaint filed against Cramer also alleged that he placed advertisements on adult websites regarding the availability of the girls for commercial sex acts. Those acts took place at hotels in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas as well as at Cramer's home in Brighton.

Customers, according to the complaint, were charged between $150 to $220 per hour to engage in sexual activities with the girls, and Cramer received a portion of the proceeds.

Two arrested in theft of CSX steel products

BRANDT -- Two Silver Creek men were arrested Thursday by Brant police for allegedly stealing more than $2,700 worth of CSX Railroad steel products during a late-morning break-in at a CSX facility on Brant Farnham Road.

Daniel W. Seeley, 46, and Aaron L. Green, 27, were both charged with criminal possession of stolen property. Green also was charged with aggravated unlicensed driving after police confirmed his driver's license was suspended in the Town of Hanover last Sept. 23.

Both were ordered to return to Town Court before Judge Peter Gugino for further proceedings March 8.

Woman charged with DWI, leaving accident scene

CATTARAUGUS -- An Irving woman was arrested by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies, who said she was driving drunk and left an accident scene involving a parked car on South Main Street.

Tashia M. Seneca, 26, of South Sulphr Springs Road, was charged at 2:43 a.m. Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, leaving an accident scene and failure to keep right.

Deputies said they were informed Seneca had left the crash scene, and they located her a short time later. She was processed and submitted to a breath test, which showed she was over the legal limit, according to a sheriff's report.

Batavia man arrested on driving violations

ASHFORD -- A Batavia man was arrested on Gooseneck Road by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies and charged with driving without a license and operating an uninspected vehicle.

Cole Y. Holstein, 27, of Liberty Street, was taken into custody by deputies on Tuesday and arraigned in Town Court.

Driving without license and speeding charged

CARROLLTON -- A 29-year old Olean man was arrested by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies and charged with driving without a license and speeding on Interstate 86.

Brian E. Phearsdorf, of South Barry Street, was charged at about 8 p.m. Saturday by deputies, who said his vehicle hit the median and spun out.

Car found in tree line; motorist charged with DWI

CARROLLTON -- A 20-year old Rochester man was arrested by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies and charged with drunken driving on Route 417, after his vehicle was found in a tree line along Route 417.

Christopher P. Murphy, of Chimayo Road, was chargedat at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. After processing, he was turned over to his parents, deputies said.
