The Healthcare Association of New York State announced that Joe McDonald, president and CEO of Catholic Health, has been named chairman of its board of trustees. McDonald joined Catholic Health in 2002. A native of Knoxville, McDonald earned a master's in business administration from the University of Tennessee. McDonald and the new slate of board officers will serve one-year terms.

Goldberg Segalla named Sarah J. Delaney and Paul D. McCormick partners in its Buffalo office. Delaney is a member of the law firm's global insurance services team, editor of the firm's bi-weekly insurance coverage newsletter, and publisher of the firm's quarterly newsletter on insurance, disability and retirement issues. A University at Buffalo graduate, Delaney received her JD from the UB School of Law. McCormick, trial lawyer, is a member of the firm's appellate, construction, global insurance services, municipal and governmental liability, and transportation practice groups. He is a graduate of Canisius College and Albany Law School.

Hamberger and Weiss named Melanie M. Wojcik a partner in the Buffalo office. Wojcik joined the firm in 2002. A University at Buffalo graduate, she earned her J.D. from the UB School of Law.

The Center of Renewal Retreat and Conference Center at Stella Niagara appointed Fred Heuer chair of its board of directors. Heuer is assistant vice president for marketing at Niagara University.

The Pinnacle Charter School board of trustees appointed Kathy Wood and Sarah Cotter board members. Wood is the associate dean of the school of education at Buffalo State College. A Howard University graduate, she received her PhD and her masters of education from the University at Buffalo. Cotter is the director of Ambulatory Health Information Technology at Catholic Health Systems Independent Physicians' Association in Buffalo. She is a Boston University graduate and received her master's degree from Boston University School of Public Health.

The Marrano Marc/Equity Corporation, a Buffalo and Western New York new home builder, appointed Thomas H. VanNortwick new home construction professional. VanNortwick will be responsible for new home sales at Central Square Villas Town Homes in Lancaster. A licensed real estate agent and CPA, he is a graduate of Canisius College.

Read to Succeed Buffalo, a collaborative literacy organization dedicated to improving early childhood literacy, named Lauren Horowitz director of grants and resource development. Horowitz most recently was the development project manager at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in New York. She holds a master's degree from the New School.

Freed Maxick ABL Services appointed Robert D. Abraham vice president business development. Abraham is a graduate of Ithaca College and has an MBA from the University of Hartford.

Lawley Insurance named Timothy Toole surety bond manager in the agency's construction solutions team. Toole was an underwriting manager at First Niagara Risk Management. He is a New England College graduate.
