1. NOTHING TO WEAR
Coach Bill Belichick (above) of the Patriots has committed to playing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year. Belichick has asked for a waiver of Pebble Beach's "no-hoodie" dress code for the week.
2. IT'S ALL RELATIVE
Redskins QB Rex Grossman said on his team's 2011 season: "It's hard to say this, but we were a pretty damn good 5-11. You didn't really want to play us." He must think the Bills' 6-10 season was downright awesome.
3. NO COMMENT
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said the refusal of Bruins goalie Tim Thomas to show up at a White House ceremony was an example of America losing its sense of basic courtesy. No word on whether Patrick refused to take questions after his statement.
4. FATHER TIME WINS AGAIN
Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin is interested in organizing a game to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Canada-USSR Summit Series. If the same players come back for it, it will only look like the game is being shown on TV in slow motion.
5. CASHING IN
Forbes magazine reports that the Cavaliers turned their biggest profit in franchise history last season, one that did not feature LeBron James. Bet that makes Cleveland's basketball fans feel a lot better.
