TYLENDA, Jean "Janina"

TYLENDA - Jean "Janina"
Jean Kulach Wojtkowiak Tylenda
Servant of God, Mother, Family Treasure. Jean (Janina) Tylenda slipped peacefully into heaven on December 28, 2011, at age 94. Born on April 13, 1917 in Buffalo, NY to Jan and Stanislawa Kulach, she grew up with four older siblings. She married Leonard Wojtkowiak in 1938 and together they raised four children. At retirement, Leonard and Jean moved to California, where they lived for 10 years. After Leonard's passing in 1981, Jean returned to Western New York and married Alois (Al) Tylenda in 1982 and settled in Alden, NY. Al passed away in 1997. Jean was blessed by the love and support of her Buffalo-based stepsons and their families over the years. She was grateful for the month each of her children spent with her during post-surgery convalescence in late 2010 and early 2011, prior to her move to Winchester, VA, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. Jean had a thankful heart and an intimate walk with the Lord Jesus. His name was constantly on her lips and by His strength every challenge became a victory. She blessed every life she touched. She loved her friends in the Senior Clubs in Alden, NY and Winchester, VA. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Alden, NY for 10 years. Jean is survived by her daughter Ann Sillitto, two sons, Dan and Ron Wojtkowiak; step-sons Tony and Al Tylenda. Her daughter Florence was called home in 1966. Her ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren brought Jean much joy. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Jean's life is planned in Buffalo on April 13, 2012 on what would have been the 95th anniversary of her birth. Memorial gifts may be made to Alden Meals on Wheels, PO Box 394, Alden, NY 14004 (937-7105).
