Anthony L. Douglas, police accident investigator; Oct. 31, 1954 -- Dec. 25, 2011

Anthony L. Douglas, a senior accident investigator for the Buffalo Police Department, died Sunday in Erie County Medical Center following a Dec. 16 accident in which the car he was driving veered into a center median and flipped over at least once on Main Street, near Depew Avenue. He was 57.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Kensington High School. Mr. Douglas began his career with the police department in 1982. He played the trumpet when he was younger. He enjoyed jazz and traveling to different parts of the world.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Hazel Smith; a son, Anthony L. Jr.; a daughter, Kishia Y.; his father, Sidney Sr.; three brothers, Sidney Jr., Julius G. and Kevin T.; and a sister, Vernell P.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today in True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St.
