1. DROP THOSE CHARGES

The Bears' Sam Hurd (above) was arrested in Chicago on federal drug charges after allegedly attempting to buy cocaine and marijuana. Undercover agents knew right off it was an NFL receiver: He maintained possession and got both feet down.

2. SAFE AT HOME

Home-run king Barry Bonds was sentenced to 30 days of house arrest for giving misleading testimony to a grand jury. Big deal, Bonds apologists say -- just another long homestand.

3. FILM ROOM

Some 20 players are scheduled to take part April 2-5 in the first-ever NFL Pro Hollywood Boot Camp, for those who might have an interest in the movie industry. Quickie scouting report: Brace yourselves for a bunch of screen plays.

4. SENIOR MOMENT

Steve Schrader of the Detroit Free Press, on 89-year-old Betty White doing the ESPN intro for this season's final "Monday Night Football" broadcast: "Which makes her the oldest performer on 'MNF' since Brett Favre."
