Bills-Broncos Report Card

Grading the Bills

RUNNING GAME

A : Spiller had career day with 111 yards on 16 carries. Averaging 14 carries and 6.8 yards in last three home games. Why not give him a bigger work load, Chan?

PASSING GAME

B- : Fitzpatrick had efficient, error-free game. Protection was solid against highly regarded Denver pass rush. Johnson had solid game against Champ Bailey.

RUN DEFENSE

A- : Held the NFL's top-ranked rush offense to 3.1 yards a carry after opening drive. Put eight in the box and dared Tebow to beat them. Dareus solid in middle.

PASS DEFENSE

A : Coverage was sensational. Pass rush forced Tebow to move in the pocket and make difficult throws. Kelsay (2 sacks, 2 hurries) had his best day as a pro.

SPECIAL TEAMS

A- : Great day for return men. McKelvin had 80-yard punt return for TD and career high in yards. Rogers a find on kickoff returns. Rayner's days are numbered.

COACHING

A : Embattled Edwards had his defense well-prepared for Broncos' one-dimensional offense. Gailey play calling solid. DeHaven's return units terrific.

>Grading the Broncos

RUNNING GAME

C- : League's top run game sputtered after big early drive, leading to five straight three-and-outs to end first half. Tebow didn't do much with option.

PASSING GAME

F : Tebow magic got exposed in a big way. Threw four picks in second half. Slow to read coverages and inaccurate as usual. He's not an NFL passer.

RUN DEFENSE

D : Broncos are ranked 20th in NFL in run defense and easy to see why. Linebackers didn't make plays and allowed Spiller to get to second level.

PASS DEFENSE

C : Did rookie Von Miller even play? Miller's stat line: One assisted tackle. Vaunted pass rush didn't make Fitz uncomfortable and had just one sack.

SPECIAL TEAMS

D : Brutal coverage on both punt and kickoff returns. Poor containment on McKelvin's 80-yard punt return, which turned the momentum in the Bills' favor.

COACHING

F : Fox didn't have a lot of answers with a playoff berth on the line. Offensive schemes showed little imagination. Why leave Tebow in at end of blowout?
