Five Spot / Quick hitters on the light side

1. NUMBER, PLEASE

Baron Davis will wear No. 85 for the Knicks, in honor of his childhood street address in Los Angeles. Let's hope he doesn't change his name to "Ochocinco."

2. BREAK UP TO MAKE UP

Kris Humphries re-signed with the New Jersey Nets after testing the free-agent waters. He apparently discovered that it's easier to get back together with his ex-team than Kim Kardashian, his ex-wife.

3. PULLING THE PLUG

The 49ers-Steelers game on Monday was delayed twice because of a power failure. I suppose Bills linebacker Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman must have been in the house.

4. TESTING HIS LIMITS

Akron's search for a football coach took a hit when Paul Winters turned down an offer and stayed at Wayne State. The school and the money were fine, but he just wasn't prepared to lead a team called the Zips on to the field.

5. NOTHING BUT 'NET

The Philadelphia Wings' uniforms at the Feb. 12 game against the Bandits will feature players' Twitter handles instead of names. Honest. Expect the Bandits to do all their trash-talking during the game online.
