FIGHTING BACK -- Women throughout the area will gather at 11 a.m. Sunday at Niagara Falls Country Club, 505 Mountain View Drive, Lewiston, for the 24th annual Barbara S. Zimmer Holiday Wish Show to benefit the American Cancer Society. Highlight will be the presentation of the Inspiration Award to a cancer survivor, caregiver or other person who has provided hope and inspiration for cancer survivors.
Organized in 1988 by a group of American Cancer Society volunteers headed by Zimmer, a cancer survivor then who died from the disease in 1997, it's now headed by her daughter, Shelly Wald, who notes that it sells out every year. WARM THOUGHTS -- The Winter Coat Drive has begun at Maurices, 231 S. Cascade Drive, Springville. From now through Nov. 27, customers who bring in donations of new or like-new kids and teenage size coats will receive a coupon good for 20 percent off any regularly priced item in the store. Coupons are limited to 10 per person. The drive benefits the Trading Post, a community outreach center in Springville and Cattaraugus.

There will be silent and voice auctions for a vast array of items, including Sabres tickets, two home-made afghans, restaurant gift certificates, artwork, geology tools, toys, gift baskets and holiday spirits.
