Ghoul school

A rather ghoulish lineup of bands will fill the Halloween weekend roster at the Slyboots Music School (350 Ellicott St.). The school-slash-live music club will present its Slyboots Halloween Fest starting at 7 p.m. Saturday and continuing on Sunday and Monday.

The schedule includes the B-side Bastards, Peanut Brittle Satellite, Effective Resolution, On the Sly, Ramforinkus and Cinnamon Aluminum on Saturday; Universe Shark, Marmot Ointment, A--- Pudding, Lazlo Hollyfeld and Free Henry! on Sunday; and On the Sly, Saakumu Dance Trupe of Ghana and the Slyboots Drumming Ensemble on Monday. You can learn more about the school through onthesly.org/school.

Pure AM gold

Portland's Blitzen Trapper is bringing its gorgeous blend of eclectic alt-folk to Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.) for an intimate show at 8 p.m. Saturday with the Belle Brigade. Earlier this week, the band played the lovely "Love the Way You Walk Away" on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." Check out the video, and stream some Blitzen Trapper tunes via prefixmag.com.

Some seasonal shenanigans are scheduled for Duke's Bohemian Grove Bar (253 Allen St.) at 9 p.m. Monday with the DJ stylings of Frosty Tone Crew, Big Basha and QCC. There will also be a costume contest with a $500 prize.

Toronto's hard-jazz ensemble the Brownman Electryc Trio -- trumpeter Brownman, bassist Ben Miller and drummer Aaron Staebell -- will be performing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album in its entirety tonight starting at 10:30 at the Bend On Allen (256 Allen St.).
