TRAINING SESSION: A state-mandated training session for professionals on identifying and reporting child abuse, maltreatment and neglect will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today in the LoGuidice Education Center, D Building, 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia. CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER: The office of Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, will host satellite hours in Chautauqua County from 9 to noon Friday in Forestville Fire Hall, 18 Chestnut St., and from 1 to 3 in the Silver Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Main Street. RED-RIBBON PARADE: Gowanda Elementary School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with a promise to be drug-free and a Halloween costume parade and banner contest at 2 p.m. Friday down Aldrich Street from the elementary school to the Gowanda Fire Hall and back. In case of rain, it will be held in the elementary School.

LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST: A legislative breakfast and discussion for elected officials serving Western New York regarding the rising crime trends among young local offenders will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday in Saving Grace Ministries corporate offices, 2025 Bailey Ave. It is sponsored by Saving Grace Ministries, the St. John Fruit Belt Community Development Corp., Council Member Richard Fontana, the Rev. Darius Pridgen, and the Rev. Michael Chapman of St. John Baptist Church.

HALLOWEEN TOUR: The Central Terminal Restoration Corp. will hold a special Halloween candlelight ghost hunt of the terminal at 495 Paderewski Drive on Friday and Saturday. Tours will leave every half hour from 5 to 8 p.m. both days. Tickets are $20 per person. Comfortable walking shoes and a flashlight are mandatory. The tour is not handicapped-accessible, and visitors will need to navigate multiple flights of stairs and long hallways. It is for children 12 and over only.
