HAUPTMAN, Herbert Aaron

HAUPTMAN - Herbert Aaron October 23, 2011, beloved husband of 71 years of Edith (Citrynell) Hauptman; also survived by daughters Barbara Hauptman and Carol (Hauptman) Fullerton, Ph.D., his brother Robert and many nieces and nephews; predeceased by his brother Manuel and parents Israel and Leah (Rosenfeld) Hauptman. Hauptman was an American mathematician and crystallographer who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1985 for developing mathematical methods for deducing the molecular structure of chemical compounds. A Memorial Service will be held at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Herbert A. Hauptman Endowment Fund at HWI, 700 Ellicott St., Buffalo, NY 14203.
