STOLLER, Edith "Edie" (Mitchell)

STOLLER - Edith "Edie" (nee Mitchell)
Age 86; October 18, 2011; in Columbia, SC surrounded by her family. Edie, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born October 16, 1925, a daughter of the late James Mitchell and Agnes Cheape Mitchell. Her home town was Buffalo, NY, where she grew up and had family and many friends. She married her late husband, William "Bill" David Stoller, on October 13, 1945, soon after his return from the Pacific where he served as a US Marine in WWII. After initially living in Buffalo, NY, they settled in and raised their family in Watertown and Horseheads, NY. Following her husband's death, Edie moved to Columbia, SC in 1983 to be near her children. She was employed by DG&F as a proof reader and retired from Richland School District II where she worked in the computer lab at Richland Northeast High School. Edie was devoted to her family and friends, enjoyed bridge, golf, and doting on her grandchildren and family pets. She was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church. Surviving Edie are her children, Patricia Stoller McLaren and her husband, James T. McLaren of Columbia, S.C., and Brian Stoller (Deb Haywood) of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Molly McLaren Davis (Matt) and William James McLaren; and one great-grandchild, Logan James Davis. Gramma Edie will always be remembered for her homemade pies, sense of humor and Scottish ways. Edie was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Mitchell D'Arcangelo. Visitation will be held at Thursday October 20, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223, or to a charity of one's choice. Online guestbook at
