Five Spot / Quick hitters on the light side

1. SIT THIS ONE OUT

Jose Reyes got a bunt single Wednesday and then left the game in order to claim the batting title. The late Ted Williams became so upset about it that he started to defrost.

2. DOGGED BEHAVIOR

Tennessee blue-tick coonhound mascot Smokey is suffering from a partially torn ACL, but will be at Saturday's game against UB. Meanwhile, Vols' Justin Hunter hurt his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. You mean the mascot is tougher than the players at Tennessee?

3. MOVIN' ON

Before Monday night's game, London Fletcher gathered his Redskins teammates on the midfield star declaring Cowboys Stadium as "our house." After the Dallas win, Fletcher announced a new endorsement deal with Global Van Lines.

4. CUE THE ELEPHANTS

IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves was fined $30,000 for tweeting that chief stewart Brian Barhart was a "circus clown." The fine came from two IndyCar officials, Mr. Barnum and Mr. Bailey.

5. KEEPING PERSPECTIVE

Austin Peay fullback Isaac VanMeter also serves as a U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot who has flown missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. When his coaches tell the team that it's time to get ready for battle, do you think he laughs at them?
