Isabelle Klementowski, 93, owned liquor store; Oct. 9, 1917 -- Sept. 23, 2011

Isabelle Klementowski of Williamsville, former owner of Black Rock Liquor Store, died Friday in Harris Hill Nursing Facility, Lancaster, after a struggle with cancer. She was 93.

Born Isabelle Platek in Buffalo, she attended Assumption Elementary School and School 42. She was a graduate of Riverside High School.

With her husband, she owned and operated the liquor store on Amherst Street for more than 30 years until the early 1980s.

A mother of three, Mrs. Klementowski was a founding member of the Mothers Club at Assumption Catholic Church. She was an usher at Studio Arena Theatre and Shea's Performing Arts Center. She continued to work as a volunteer at Millard Fillmore Hospital until three years ago.

Her husband of 65 years, Victor, died in 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Sandler and Mary Ann Love; and two sisters, Mary Spiewak and Dolores Zorkos.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Assumption Church, 435 Amherst St.
