"New Grange," an exhibition of work by local artist Timothy Frerichs, opens tonight in Villa Maria College's Paul William Beltz Family Art Gallery (240 Pine Ridge Road).
The show contains a series of collages that respond to the idea of a proposed wind turbine farm site in the Arkwright Hills area, just outside of Dunkirk. The works combine collected images, drawings and objects collected from the proposed turbine sites with maps detailing the area. Frerichs' intent, as he wrote in a statement, is to "create a visual dialogue examining how imaging, collection systems and mapping processes (whether scientific or cultural), represent our perceptions of the natural world."
The exhibition opens with a reception at 6 p.m. today and runs through Oct. 28. For more information, call 896-0700 or visit www.villa.edu.
