CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER: The office of Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, will host satellite hours in Chautauqua County today. The hours and sites area: 9 to 11 a.m. in Lakewood Village Hall, 20 W. Summit St., and 1 to 3 p.m. in the Findley Lake Community Center, 2883 North Road. RABIES CLINIC: The Erie County Department of Health, the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and the SPCA Serving Erie County will conduct a free rabies clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets from 3 to 7 p.m. today in Building 7, the maintenance garage, on the Erie Community College South Campus, 4041 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park. It is adjacent to the Erie County Department of Motor Vehicles office.

LANDLORD TRAINING: Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) will conduct a free landlord training course from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday in its offices, 700 Main St. The course will highlight the tenant-screening process, fair housing laws, the landlord-tenant relationship and what to do when that relationship doesn't work. FALL BOOK SALE: The Friends of Elma Library will host its annual fall book sale Friday and Saturday in the Elma Senior Citizens Center, 3007 Bowen Road. Donations may be dropped off at Elma Library, Rice and Bowen roads. Proceeds will support programs and help purchase equipment for the library.

NATIVE AMERICAN GALA: The Native American Community Services of Erie and Niagara counties will hold a gala fundraiser from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday in Rich's Atrium, One Robert Rich Way. Tickets are $50 for dinner and entertainment. Keynote speaker will be G. Peter Jemison of the Seneca Heron Clan.

GARDEN BOUNTY CELEBRATION: The Wyoming County Master Gardeners invite the public to their annual Garden Bounty Celebration from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Breezy Hill Party House, 2875 Merchant Road, Warsaw. Dinner will include a full vegetable salad bar of mostly New York-grown produce. Cost is $20 per person. ART GONE WILD: The Buffalo Zoo will present Art Gone Wild, featuring the sale and auction of art created by a variety of the zoo's favorite animals, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday on the third floor of the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery, 76 Pearl St. Tickets are $15 at the door. Funds raised will benefit the zoo.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS LECTURE: David Herzberg, assistant professor of history at UB and an expert in America's relationship with prescription drugs, will give a talk titled "The Drug War in the Medicine Cabinet: Prescription Drug Addition in the Age of Miracle Pills" at 4 p.m. Friday in Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, 341 Delaware Ave. The lecture kicks off the University at Buffalo Humanities Institute's "Scholars at Hallwalls" series.
