Robert A. Mazur of East Aurora, a retired employee of the state Department of Taxation and Finance, died Friday in Mercy Hospital. He was 73.
Born in Buffalo, he earned bachelor's degrees from both the University of Connecticut and the University of Buffalo. He served in the Army in the late 1950s and the Air Force Reserve, where he was a senior master sergeant with the 914th Aeromedical Squadron and the 70th Aeromedical Evacuation Flight.
Mr. Mazur retired from his job with the Department of Taxation and Finance in 1990, the same year he also retired from the Air Force Reserve.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, the Audubon Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Niagara Military Affairs Council. He volunteered for the American Red Cross and was an aeromedical evacuation flight instructor.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Arlene M. Cegielski; four sons, Robert M., Patrick R., Christopher A. and Anthony M.; and a sister, Dorothy Bartella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma.
