Mildred L. Woods, a foster parent for more than 15 children, died Saturday in Sisters Hospital after a sudden illness. She was 90.
Born Mildred Willingham in Tuscaloosa, Ala., she graduated from high school there.
From the 1960s until the 1980s, she was a foster parent for more than 15 children with the Erie County Department of Social Services.
Mrs. Woods also was a former member and choir member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lackawanna.
Her husband, James, died in 1977.
Surviving is a daughter, Karen T. Graves, and a brother, Avery Suppeth.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore St., preceded by prayers at 9.
