Jeanette Emily Yager, owner of a fashion accessories company, died Sunday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a long illness. She was 76.
A lifelong Buffalo resident, the former Jeanette Gendzerski graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute Central High School and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Empire State College.
From about 1955 to 1985, Mrs. Yager worked as an accounting manager for Peter J. Schmitt Co., where she also was a member of the company's in-house President's Management Council.
She also ran and owned Jeanette Yager Designs, a women's fashion accessories web-based business, until she retired in the late '80s. Yager Designs also sold wholesale items to businesses and participated in arts and crafts shows.
Mrs. Yager was a member of St. John's-Grace Episcopal Church, the League of Women Voters, Toastmasters and S.C.O.R.E. Buffalo Niagara.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeannine Yager-Aiello; a sister, Marie Putzbach; and a brother, Leonard Gendzerski.
Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave., followed by services at 10 in St. John's-Grace Episcopal Church, 15 Colonial Circle.
