GIRARD - Coletta "Colette"
78, passed away at Pompano Beach, FL on July 15, 2011. She was born on October 28, 1932 to the late Philip and Anna (Castronover) Cifarelli. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Anthony Girard, brothers Pasquale (Pat) and Louis Cifarelli and sister-in-law Gloria (Burns) Cifarelli. Colette was a graduate of the State College at Buffalo and earned her Masters Degree at the University of Buffalo. Her accomplished career included teaching, guidance counseling, and serving as Director of Pupil Personnel Services at the Buffalo Public School System. During the District's major desegregation effort, it was Colette's department which facilitated the smooth transfer of hundreds of students with special circumstances. Further, Superintendent Eugene T. Reville gave Colette the responsibility of organizing and running the convention for the Council of Great City Schools which was brought to Buffalo. She was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent approximately 10 years before her retirement in 1991. Colette was an intelligent, charming, gracious woman loved by many. She and Anthony lived life to the fullest, enjoying traveling and socializing with their friends in Buffalo and later Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. She will be sorely missed by her family which includes her brother Joseph (Carol) Cifarelli, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Cifarelli and Evelyn Girard, brother-in-law Joseph Girardi, many nieces and nephews, and her treasured friends from Buffalo and Florida.
