Clock tower restored
The Buffalo Religious Arts Center, 157 East St., recently restored lighting to the soaring clock tower of the former St. Francis Xavier Church in Black Rock.
The center purchased the church after its closure in 2007, and it now houses art objects from many closed churches in Western New York.
Anniversary speaker set
The Rev. Lula G. Williams will be keynote speaker for the 40th anniversary celebration of the founding of the International Ministers' Spouses and Widows Fellowship of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church at 11 a.m. next Saturday in Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, 453 Porter Ave.
The group will honor Beulah M. Crockett, its founding president, with a plaque placed in the museum.
Holt is guest speaker
Dian Holt, a preacher from Durham Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, will be guest speaker at the annual Bahamas Island Conference Fundraiser program of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church.
The program runs from 4 to 6 p.m Aug. 28 in St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, 314 E. Ferry St.
