Martina McBride is a bit of an anomaly on the modern country music scene. Her voice is pure, rich and agile a true country voice, but one that is able to transcend genre considerations based on its soaring eloquence. McBride is also an artist who has been able to succeed on a commercial level -- some 18 million records sold during an era when record sales have been steadily declining -- without bowing to trend-based demands. All of this has added up to an air of integrity surrounding McBride and her work.
On Oct. 11, McBride will move full-force into the area of songwriting with the release of her new album, "Eleven," for which she penned more than half of the tracks. (Again, this is unusual in modern country.)
In the meantime, fans can grab a dose of her heavenly singing on the concert stage. McBride and her band perform at 8 tonight in the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center. Tickets start at $65 (casino store, Ticketmaster.com).
