Expansions OK'd in Cheektowaga

Plans for a patio at Duff's Famous Wings on Dick Road and a warehouse expansion at Wahl's Candies got the go-ahead from Cheektowaga lawmakers this week.

Town officials are requiring a decorative, metal fence adjacent to the patio for the Duff's proposal, according to the Town Board resolution approved Monday night.

The Losson Road candymaker has plans for a 2,000-square-foot warehouse addition.

The companies' projects were among eight site plans unanimously approved by the Town Board.

Other plans approved were:

*A new veterinary clinic at 4821 Genesee St., at Harmony Lane just west of Transit Road.

Pat Cipolla, manager of Bella Vista Group, said occupants of a veterinary hospital at 4949 Main St. in Amherst will occupy the planned 15,500-square-foot building.

The Genesee Street parcel is owned by the Samuel Tadio Trust.

*Two, one-story office buildings at 3198 Union Road. A total of 23,590 square feet of space is planned.

The proposal comes from DMT Holdings LLC, which includes the principals of MLP Plumbing & Mechanical and Lake Side Contracting, which also occupy part of the 4.5-acre site.

Construction could begin in the fall, partner Michael Liakos told The Buffalo News last month.

*HVR Advanced Power Components plans to add a 2,120-square-foot addition of manufacturing space at 2090 Old Union Road.

The board's approval is contingent upon the Engineering Department's approval of a drainage and grading plan for the site.

*Cameron Industries is planning to build a 3,024-square-foot warehouse at 3101 Broadway.

The facility manufactures and handles technical support and customer service for centrifugal compressors, according to the company's website.

*Culinary Arts Specialties, a maker of frozen cheesecake on Union Road, received site-plan approval for a 1,500-square-foot addition to a freezer warehouse at 2268 Union Road.

The company is also looking to expand its production facilities, and is considering whether the new facility will be built locally or in another state. The local plant will remain open, the company has said.

*An outdoor eating area at Michael's Town Shanty restaurant, 2400 Clinton St.

Approval was contingent upon an enclosure being built for existing dumpsters, according to the approved resolution.
