Robert W. Junke, a project manager for Bell Aerospace, Air Force veteran and community volunteer, died Friday in Rochester General Hospital. He was 82.
Born in Ely, Minn., Mr. Junke was a Korean War-era Air Force veteran. After his discharge, he worked at the family business, Grossi's Restaurant.
Mr. Junke worked for Bell Aerospace in Niagara Falls for 35 years, retiring in 1989. At Bell, he was a project manager for the Navy's automatic carrier landing system and worked aboard the USS Midway, Kitty Hawk and Kennedy.
He was a member of the board of directors for the former Lockport Memorial Hospital and Reflections.
An active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he was a lector and eucharistic minister. In retirement, he was an active volunteer in the hospital's gift shop, managed by his wife of 59 years, the former Elizabeth E. Grossi.
Survivors also include two sons, Robert and Dr. Richard; a daughter, Donna Branch; and two sisters, Mary Mavetz and Jean Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St.
