Flash have bye at stake

The last game of the regular season has first place on the line for the Western New York Flash. The team needs just one point to clinch the regular season title and earn a bye into the Women's Professional Soccer championship game.

The Flash host the Atlanta Beat at 6 p.m. today in Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester. With 39 points the Flash are ahead of Philadelphia (36 points), meaning a tie or win would secure first place. Should the teams finish tied, the Independence would take the No. 1 seed as they won the regular season series, 2-1.

The top four in the six-team league advance to the playoffs with No. 3 hosting No. 4. The winner advances to meet the second-seeded team in the Super Semifinal on Aug. 20. The Championship Game, hosted by the regular season champion, is scheduled for 4 p.m., Aug. 27.
