The Buffalo Niagara Partnership elected Tim C. Loftis, a partner and vice chairman at law firm Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, the chairman of its board of directors. Loftis most recently served as the board's vice chairman following a number of years as secretary. Dopkins Wealth Management named Brian E. Keating a managing director. Keating previously served as regional president at HSBC Bank USA. He currently serves as chairman of the western region board for the bank. A Canisuis College graduate, he earned his MBA from Babson College, was a research fellow at the London School of Economics and is a graduate of the Commercial Bank Management School at Columbia University.

The John R. Oishei Foundation elected Florence M. Conti to its board of directors. Conti recently retired as executive director of Goodwill Industries of Western New York, a position she held for 13 years.

The board of trustees at Pinnacle Charter School named Linda A. Marszalek chief academic officer. Marszalek had been dean of academics and chief information officer for Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School since 2009. She graduated from Fredonia State College and completed her graduate work at Buffalo State College.

Columbus McKinnon Corp., a designer, manufacturer and marketer of material handling products, promoted Eric Woon to vice president of Asia-Pacific operations; Ivo Celi to vice president of European, Middle Eastern and African operations; and Alan Korman to vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel. All are members of the company's executive committee. Woon, who joined the company in 2009 as managing director (Asia-Pacific), spent 15 years in Asia as president of Volvo Construction Equipment China and president and CEO of Tesa Tape Asia Pacific. A graduate of the University of Hawaii, he earned master's degrees in both business administration and international relations from Yale University. Celi joined the company as managing director (Europe, Middle East and Africa) in 2010. He spent 13 years with Hilti AG. Celi graduated from Rheinisch-Westfalische Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany, and received a doctorate with distinction from Fraunhofer-Institute for Production Technology, also in Aachen. Korman joined the company as general counsel and assistant corporate secretary in January 2011. Most recently general counsel with Ivoclar Vivadent, he obtained his law degree from the University at Buffalo.

Excelsior Orthopaedics named Dr. Ross Sherban to its orthopaedic practice as the leader of the newly established Excelsior Spine Center. Sherban recently completed his spine surgery fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is a graduate of Midwestern University Medical School in Chicago and earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois. Excelsior Orthopaedics is headquartered on the Excelsior Medical Campus at 3925 Sheridan Drive in Amherst, with a second location in Orchard Park.

TVGA Consultants, an engineering, environmental, land survey and architecture firm in Elma, promoted Muffett Mauche George and Eric T. Fischlein to project managers. George joined the firm in 2010 and has 24 years of experience. Fischlein has 14 years of experience and joined the firm in 2008. Also, the firm promoted Andrew T. Odien to project engineer. Specializing in structural engineering, Odien began his career with the firm in 2007.

Compu-Mail, a direct marketing company, appointed Terry N. Lucero national account director. Lucero was recently sales manager of Graphic Controls, Gaming and Entertainment Division, in Rochester.

AAA of Western and Central New York promoted Lance Cutler to contact center and networking technologies manager. Cutler joined AAA in 2010 and previously served as a Cisco engineer in the business intelligence department. A University at Buffalo graduate, he holds several certifications from Cisco and is a certified health information systems professional.

Three students in the University at Buffalo's PharmD/MBA combined degree program, Clare Carroll, Christopher Daly, Christopher Diehl and their adviser, Karl D. Fiebelkorn, associate dean for student affairs and professional relations in pharmacy practice, were chosen to be among three finalist teams to compete live at the 2011 National Community Pharmacist Association's annual convention as the Pruitt-Schutte 2011 team. This is the seventh consecutive year that a UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences team has placed in the top five finalists nationally since entering the competition in 2005. The 2011 Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition was established to promote interest in independent community pharmacy ownership.
