Short workout: The team held an abbreviated 90-minute afternoon practice on Thursday. With the preseason opener Saturday in Chicago, coach Chan Gailey approached the practice like a Friday workout in preparation for a Sunday game during the regular season. After warm-ups, the Bills ran one 7-on-7 drill and two 11-on-11 workouts before finishing. "That was the plan all along," Gailey said. "We play in two days and we came out and had almost like a normal Friday practice."
Sideline views: The offense looked crisp during 7-on-7 drills, which has been the case throughout camp, but the quarterbacks' accuracy was shaky during 11-on-11. The offense didn't suffer any turnovers, although rookie corner Loyce Means had his hands on two potential interceptions that were dropped. About 70 percent of the Bills' snaps on offense were passes.
Directions: From Buffalo take the Thruway to Exit 47. Take Route 490 East for 25 miles to Exit 25 (Fairport Road -- 31F). Turn right or left and follow signs to fan parking. Shuttle buses take fans from the nearby lots to the practice fields. The lots are at Sutherland High School (55 Sutherland St.) and Mendon High School (472 Mendon Road), both near St. John Fisher.
Schedule: There is no practice today, when the team leaves for Chicago. The next camp practice is 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Quote of the Day: "If there's a backup that just wants to be a backup for the rest of his career, he's probably not going to be in the league for long. I'm always going to go out there and compete and try to start every single day." -- QB Tyler Thigpen.
