Who?: Leah Loefke and TJ Grace
What?: Electronic/synth-pop duo, part of a strong Buffalo electro scene that also includes the likes of Dotsun Moon and Shapes of States.
Why?: The duo's latest effort, "Classy Excuse For A Trashy Experience," boasts -- in addition to one of the hippest album titles I've come across this year -- electronic soundscapes tethered to the earthly realm by singer Loefke's gorgeous, ruminative vocals. It's beautifully understated indie electronica with a considerable compositional backbone and a tendency toward the sonically adventurous.
What's next?: A triple bill with Love Scenes, the Purity Ring and Early Attic takes place Aug. 23 in Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.).
Check out: The new full-length, particularly the tracks "Heavy," "Insomnia" and "Robot Despair." Visit the band and check out "Classy Excuse For A Trashy Experience" via www.lovescenesmusic.com, soundcloud.com/love-scenes, or lovescenesmusic.bandcamp.com.
