The 172nd Erie County Fair (5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg) continues the music portion of its myriad activities in a big way. In keeping with the fair's lengthy entertainment history, this week's shows are all over the place, stylistically speaking -- a good thing in this instance, as we will be treated to a genuine country music princess, some pure folk-rock royalty and a living hard-rock legend. All concerts are in the fair's Buffalo.com Grandstand.
First off, former "Nashville Star" contestant-turned-major-league recording star Miranda Lambert and her band will arrive for an 8 p.m. show Sunday. Reserved track seating for this gig is sold out, but general admission in the grandstand was still available at press time ($45, Fairgrounds Event Center, Tickets.com).
At 8 p.m. Monday, perennial Western New York favorite America takes over the grandstand stage. This is a free show, and like the band's previous summer stops in our area, is likely to be a hits-heavy affair including favorites like "Sister Golden Hair" and "A Horse With No Name."
Finally, the Space Ace himself -- Ace Frehley, iconic guitarist with Kiss and, by this point, fully tenured solo artist -- performs at 8 p.m. Wednesday. This one's free, too!
