Estelle Barbalato, of Grand Island, a retired secretary, died unexpectedly Monday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Town of Tonawanda. She was 75.
Born Estelle Mancuso in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, where she learned typing and shorthand. She was a secretary for Dr. Thomas Cumbo from 1977 to 1987 and a senior stenographer for the Buffalo Board of Education from 1990 to 2000.
A Buffalo resident until she moved to Grand Island in 1995, Mrs. Barbalato was active in the Grover Cleveland High School Alumni Association and enjoyed ceramic painting.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Ralph Sr.; two daughters, Rosemarie Stansfield and Lisa Canavan; and a sister, Sharon Partyka.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Amherst.
