Bulls Camp: Day 2

It was the second day of camp for the University at Buffalo football team and the players ran through drills in a continous light drizzle all morning. Head coach Jeff Quinn said he thought the defense did a great job carrying over what they learend in Monday's practice to Tuesday. The coaching staff put more on the offensive unit's plate, causing them to be a bit slower as they tried to absorb more information. But ovearll Quinn said, "we have definitely made progress as a football team over the past two days."

At Monday night's team meeting, former Buffalo Bill Steve Tasker talked to the team and the special teams guru turned football analyst had Quinn all sorts of fired up, too.

"We talk about young men in this great game of football ... and Iit's not a long period of time," Quinn said. "It is a small portion of your life experience and as [Tasker] said, you have to sacrifice in order to demonstrate your commitment at this level and you have to do it for each other. That's the quality of a championship football team. When ever single member of our football team commits and cares equally about the success and outcome of every single game .... then we'll be rewarded with the kind of success that we're all looking for here.

"[Tasker] is just passionate. You can see it in his eyes. You can feel it. The room was just locked on him. It was neat for our kids to see a gentleman who has accomplished so much in his personal life, his family, his professional life. He demonstrates what we look for as coaches -- players who play with everything they have, with their head, their heart and their pads. Steve Tasker did that. ... It's exciting to have someone like that representing the Buffalo and Western New York area."

Meanwhile, catch up with sophomore linebacker Kahlil Mack in Wednesday's edition of The Buffalo News as looks to follow up and impressive freshman campaign.
