Pawtucket scored seven runs in the eighth inning -- including a grand slam by Lars Anderson -- to earn an 11-1 win over the Buffalo Bisons Saturday night.
It was the second straight loss for the Bisons, who are just 4-11 against the Red Sox this season.
Valentino Pascucci continued to put runs on the board for the Bisons as his double to right field gave the Herd a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Pascucci has 78 runs batted in and has collected 28 RBIs in 23 games since the All-Star break. He ranks second in the International League in that department.
Buffalo's lead was short-lived as Pawtucket went up, 2-1, in the second on a two-out, two-run home run to right field by Brent Dlugach. The Red Sox extended their lead to 3-1 in the third on an RBI double by Jed Lowrie, who is on an injury rehab assignment from Boston.
Former Bison Hector Luna had an RBI double for Pawtucket in the sixth, extending the lead to 4-1.
Then came the eighth which included a two-RBI double by Ronald Bermudez, an RBI ground-rule double from Lowrie and the grand slam from Anderson.
Late Friday, the New York Mets purchased the contract of infielder Nick Evans. It will be the third stint with the Mets for Evans this season. With the Herd, he has averaged .313 in 64 games.
The series with Pawtucket concludes today (1:05 p.m., Radio 1520 AM) with righty Chris Schwinden (7-5, 3.59 ERA) scheduled to start for Buffalo against righty Kyle Weiland (8-7, 3.20). The Bisons then continue their road trip with two games in Syracuse.
