REYNOLDS, Catherine J.
REYNOLDS - Catherine L. (nee Colburn) Recently residing in Manassas, VA, formerly of Amherst, NY passed away February 1, 2011 at the Manassas Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 10, 1927 in Kennedy, NY, she was the daughter of Hoffman Azro and Ethel Harris Colburn. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Reynolds was chief buyer of builder's hardware for Ed Young's True Value Hardware in Williamsville, NY. She was a 1947 graduate of Cobleskill State College, Cobleskill, NY, with an Associate's Degree in Dietary Science.
Mrs. Reynolds was a past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary, American Legion, George F. Lamm Post #622 of Williamsville, NY. For many years she was a member of the Waterwheel Squares Square Dance Club, often dancing the man's part. She loved crafts and created quilted lap robes for the Veterans at the VA Hospital and the Episcopal Church Home residents as well as knitting winter things for the Linen Pantry. For more than ten years, she was part of the Women's Health Initiative at the University of Buffalo Medical School, which tracked women's health and treatment issues. She loved people, parties and dining out. A woman of strong faith, she was a very active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Eggertsville, NY and attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Manassas. May 5th was the 54th anniversary of Cathy's reception as an Associate of the Society of the Sisters of St. Margaret, an Anglican order. She volunteered for many years at the Episcopal Church Home. A lover of books and classical music, she inspired a fondness for learning and music in all her children. She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna M. Price of Sinclairville, NY and one brother, Raymond O. Colburn of Kennedy, NY. Survivors include two daughters, Faith J. Reynolds of Manassas; Elaine A. Reynolds of Liberty, MO; two sons, Keith R. Reynolds of Manassas; and Bryan L. Reynolds of Silver Spring, MD; also three grandsons, Christopher I. Reynolds; Andrew M. Reynolds; and Adam Fein Reynolds. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 205 Longmeadow Rd., Eggertsville, NY. Inurnment will take place in the St. Peter's Church Columbarium. Memorials may take the form of a donation to St. Peter's Episcopal Church's Bldg. Fund or the Society of St. Margaret, 17 Highland Park St., Boston MA 02119-1436. Arrangements were entrusted to the BAKER-POST FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Manassas VA.
