Bernice "Bunny" Novak Bronstein, a sculptor and former Buffalo-area resident, died Tuesday in Aventura, Fla., after a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Born Bernice Novak in Detroit, she spent summers in Crystal Beach, Ont. She met Barney Bronstein on the Canadiana, married him in 1942 and lived in Eggertsville. The president of Bronstein and Rovner fruit brokers, he died in 1962.
She later married Morton Dimet of Simon Oil Co. in Niagara Falls. He died in 1972.
She graduated from Daemen College with a fine arts degree in the 1970s.
She moved to Florida in the 1970s to be near her Detroit family, Hy and Rebecca Ash, and developed a following for her alabaster sculpture. She also enjoyed golf, tennis, cards and family trips.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald and Robin, and a stepdaughter, Lynn Dimet.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Chapel.
