FR. BRZEZNIAK OMF, Aurelian

FR. BRZEZNIAK-Aurelian OFM Conv.
Age 93, died on June 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was born in Buffalo, NY, February 26, 1918. He is the beloved son of the late Walter and Victoria (nee Kopydlowska) Brzezniak; loving brother of Emily Hubert and the late Viola, Walter, John, Stanley, Casimir, Joseph and Ted; caring uncle of Grace Hubert. Fr. Aurelian received degrees from St. Hyacinth Seminary, Granby, MA and Canisus College, Buffalo, NY. In 1945 he became the Assistant Pastor at St. Stanislaus Parish, Chicopee, MA. In 1947 he became a teacher at Bishop Ryan High School in Buffalo, NY and then in 1951 he became the Assistant Principal of Bishop Ryan High School. In addition he became the Director of Novices for St. Joseph Cupertino Novitiate in Ellicott City, MD in 1957. Fr. Aurelian taught at Father Baker High School in Lackawanna, NY from 1963-1968. He went back to teaching at Bishop Ryan High School from 1968-1971 and in 1971 he began to teach at St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, NY where he would stay until 2000. During all those years of being a High School teacher, he will be most remembered for teaching the subject Latin. He will live on for years to come in the lives of all those who were touched by his goodness, wisdom, and love. A reception of the body will take place at 6PM on Friday, July 1, at St. Francis High School Chapel, 4129 Lake Shore Rd., Athol Springs, NY where the Franciscan Wake Service will be held at 7:30 PM. On Saturday July 2, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Francis High School Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Fr. Aurelian to the "Franciscan Friars' Retirement Fund," PO Box 629, Rensselaer, NY, 12144.
