Francis M. Chemaly, of Cheektowaga, who worked as an insurance investigator, a law firm manager and singer, died June 6 in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga. He was 75.
Born and raised in Buffalo, he graduated from Holy Angels High School and the University of Buffalo. He served in the Army as a specialist three.
For much of his career, Mr. Chemaly was an insurance investigator for F.E. Seymour Insurance in Buffalo and both the state and Erie County. He also managed a law firm, Sliwa and Lane, in downtown Buffalo.
Mr. Chemaly started singing professionally in the early 1980s. He mostly performed jazz and standards from the Great American Songbook on local radio and at various local venues, including Fanny's restaurant, the Charlesgate, Bedell's, the Best Western in Niagara Falls and at Crystal Beach, Ont.
He is survived by a son, Robert, and three sisters, Marguerite Makhlouf, Odette Ginsburg and Lorraine.
A private service was held.
