FILM SCREENING: Heart of the City Neighborhoods will screen "The Garden" at 7 p.m. today in Theatre of Youth, 203 Allen St. The film follows the struggle to keep a 14-acre community garden in South Central Los Angeles. A discussion of land-use policies and the effects of community gardens on neighborhoods follows the screening.
DOCUMENTARY: Filmmaker Sandra Schulberg will present her documentary "Nuremberg: Its Lesson for Today," her 35 mm restoration of her father Stuart Schulberg's 1948 film documenting the Nuremberg trials and the establishment of the "Nuremberg principles," at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Chautauqua Cinema, at Chautauqua Institution, Hurst and Wythe streets. The movie is presented in cooperation with the Robert H. Jackson Center, Jamestown. A discussion with Schulberg will follow the screening.
SUMMER READING: The Portville Free Library, 2 N. Main St., will offer a summer reading program, "One World, Many Stories," from Tuesday though Aug. 19. On Monday evenings at 6:30, beginning July 11, there will be a special activity associated with the continent of the week. At 9:30 a.m. Fridays, the weekly theme will continue with a story hour. Special activities for older children will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 18, 25 and Aug. 1, with a visit from the St. Bonaventure ArtMobile and cardmaking at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.
