Abate Associates Engineers and Surveyors appointed Brian J. Carlson a senior bridge engineer at the Buffalo office. Carlson is a licensed New York State professional engineer who brings 14 years of transportation engineering experience to the firm.

A graduate from Fredonia State College, he also earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University at Buffalo, with additional studies in railroad engineering at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Phillips Lytle partner Kevin M. Hogan was re-elected vice chairman of the Erie County Medical Center Corp.'s board of directors. A board member since 2004 and vice chairman since 2009, Hogan also serves on the board's Audit, Finance, Ethics and Executive committees.

William Palisano, president, and John Miller, operations manager of Lincoln Archives, a Buffalo company focusing on information security, have recently passed the CSDS (Cluster Science Data System) examination and have been nationally recognized for joining the National Association for Information Destruction.

Damon Morey partner Randolph C. Oppenheimer recently co-presented with Andy Cahill of the state Department of Labor at the annual Buffalo Job Service Employer Committee seminar -- "Are You Up With the New Employment Laws?" -- at Erie 1 BOCES in West Seneca.

Gowanda Electronics, a designer and manufacturer of precision electronic components for RF (Radio Frequency) and power applications, launched its inaugural line of Ultra-Broadband Conical Inductors at the MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Exhibition in Baltimore Gowanda Electronics' introduction of its "C" conical series is in response to market demand for more standard and custom broadband conical design options for communication applications.

Regal Service, an employee-owned transportation company, leased an additional 37,246 square feet to expand its existing space to 117,886 square feet at the Jackson Industrial Building in Jamestown. Regal Service is a 45-year-old entity serving multinational manufacturing companies, as well as the food industry. The company has facilities in western Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland.

DRS Icas LLC, Buffalo, was awarded a $10,472 federal contract for electrical and electronic equipment components from the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Global Defense, Sanborn, was awarded a $56,622 federal contract for pintle hook latches from the Defense Logistics Agency's Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio.

The 20th annual Niagara Cup Classic golf tournament raised $45,000, which will support Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's Cardiac Telemetry Unit. It has raised $1 million over 20 years for programs and equipment at Memorial.
