Niagara Rises Homecoming Benefit Gala and Awards Dinner to benefit NCCC Scholarship Foundation and Niagara Rises Inc. takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Niagara Falls Conference Center Cascades Ballroom (101 Old Falls St., Niagara Falls). The event features performances by the George Scott Big Band with vocalist Melissa Kate and includes dancing, a raffle and wine tastings by Niagara Landing Wine Cellars, Arrowhead Spring Vineyards and Eveningside Vineyards. Art in Action, a summer camp collaborative with Buffalo Arts Studio and Alt Theater for ages 11 to 18, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 11-15. The camp will take place in the Buffalo Arts Studio (2495 Main St.) on July 11 and 12 and in the Alt Theatre (255 Great Arrow Ave.) July 13-15. The cost is $195. Science Adventure Summer Day Camp for ages 8-12 runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11-15, Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 15-19 on the Penn Dixie Site (4050 North St., Blasdell). The program allows campers to explore geology, fossils, astronomy, weather, ecology and rocketry. The cost is $180 for nonmembers and $155 for Penn Dixie members. The Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB) will host a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. today in the Tri-Main Center, Suite 532 (2495 Main St.). "Six by Six" showcases works by local artists that measure 6 inches by 6 inches. All proceeds from the sale go directly toward ELAB to fund future events and public art activities. Calls for Work

*Impact Artists Gallery is seeking submissions for "Diverse Approaches: Creative Paper 2011," which runs from Aug. 3 to 27. It's open to all artists ages 18 years and older, and any artwork created with or on paper is acceptable. One to three pieces may be submitted with an entry form attached to an e-mail (jpg format). All artwork should be labeled, and digital images should be 300 dpi, jpg, rgb color mode. CD entries can be mailed with entry forms as well.

There is a $20 single entry fee and $5 fee for every additional entry.
