MILAZZO, Frank "The Breeze"

MILAZZO - Frank "The Breeze"
September 3rd 1928 - June 18th 2011. Frank entered the world in Buffalo, New York, the son of Santo and Filomena Milazzo. He grew up in a large loving family that included his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved brothers Carl, Joe, Sam, Mike and Sisters Angeline, Dorothy, and Sarah. When he returned from four years of service in Alaska with the USAF and 'blew' into Buffalo he brought the cool arctic air with him, forever after he was affectionately known by everyone as 'The Breeze'. He was as unique as his name and those that had the privilege to meet him knew that he was cool and hip with a special sense of humor that endeared him to all. His personality was as bright and fun as his red hair and everything about him was warm, especially his love for people, music, friends, family, and a wonderful ability to make people feel good. The Breeze was a graduate of number 1 school and an alumnus of Burgard High School, and then went on to serve in the USAF where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. After returning to Buffalo he started his own car repair shop which, in addition to repairing cars, was a gathering place for all his friends. He went on to have a successful career with the Buffalo Fire Department as a marine engineer on the Fire Boat. He was a natural leader in the Fire Department and had a way of inspiring camaraderie and teamwork. He retired from the Buffalo Fire Department after 31 years of service. After having cancer surgery, the Breeze came up with a philosophy for living the rest of his life; he wanted to be like a race horse in the startup gate, blinders on and only looking forward. In the few short months prior to his passing he spent his days in Texas with his daughter Lisa, son-in-law Ian, and grandson Nicholas, only looking forward and enjoying life. The Breeze's life journey ended on June 18, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas, he passed without pain and was comfortable and at peace. His wish, after his passing, was to have a party to celebrate his life with the people he loved. In honor of his wishes, his family will host a celebration of his life on September 3, 2011 in Buffalo, New York.
