Five Spot / Quick hitters on the light side

1. THEY STILL REMEMBER HIM

The autobiography of Broncos' QB Tim Tebow (above) has been on the best-seller list for the last couple of weeks. It's expected that the book's sales will fall once every single resident of Gainesville, Fla., buys a copy -- which should be by next week.

2. WINDFALL PROFITS

The University of Texas football program reportedly earned $68.8 million in 2009-10. When head coach Mack Brown saw that news story, he immediately asked the school president for a $68 million raise.

3. HAT IN THE RING?

Free agent quarterback Chad Pennington plans to take next season off and "do some work for Fox." While Fox Sports staffers thought Pennington would merely analyze football games, the news division expects Pennington to form a Presidential exploratory committee any day now.

4. PLANNING AHEAD

Major League Baseball has rejected the Dodgers' 17-year television deal with Fox Sports. Not only did the action throw the McCourts' divorce settlement into limbo, but viewers don't know where to turn to watch TV coverage of the Dodgers' 2026 season.

5. BOLTS FROM THE BLUE

NBC omitted the words "under God" from a reading of the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of its U.S. Open coverage Sunday. Less than an hour later in an amazing coincidence, every transmitting tower of the network's affiliates was hit by lightning.
