The third Tom Borrelli Memorial Golf Tournament will be held July 27 at Holland Hills Country Club. The event benefits the Tom Borrelli Memorial Award and Scholarship Fund.
The awards, which will go to Western New York's top senior male and female lacrosse players, will be presented at the dinner following the tournament. The $100 cost per golfer includes golf (10 a.m. shotgun scramble), cart, chicken and ribs dinner, one-hour open bar and prizes. There will also be raffles and drawings.
To register or to donate to the fund, mail a check payable to the Tom Borrelli Memorial Award and Scholarship Fund, along with the names of golfers, dinner guests and a contact e-mail address and a phone number to: Tom Borrelli Memorial Award, Sports Department, The Buffalo News, P.O. There will also be a pre-tournament raffle with prizes to include a Ryan Miller autographed stick, Buffalo Bills golf bag, framed Augusta National photo poster, Jim Kelly autographed football and more. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10. Call the sports department at 849-4461.

Cheektowaga United edged the Clarence Coyotes to win the U10 championship of the Odenbach Tournament in West Seneca. Cheektowaga won a shootout over Kenton Galaxy thanks to a clutch save by goalie Jimmy Porter, the tournament MVP. United also triumphed over Holland All-Stars (11-1) and Grand Island Impact U9 (3-0). Members of the Cheektowaga team are: Porter, Seth Schlosser, Matthew Ricchiazzi, Devin Connolly, Andy Pufpaff, Sammy Beuller, Alex Jauch, Tanner Quigley, Alex Raczynski, Eman Wajed, A.J. The 18U girls fastpitch softball team representing Amherst Lightning completed an undefeated weekend at 6-0, in the 15th Annual Coca-Cola Classic ASA Regional Qualifier Tournament at Walden Ponds Park in Lancaster. The team consists of Jenna Allers (Wmsv. East), Jaclyn Bellanti (Kenmore East), Kate Brownell (Oakfield/Alabama), Lindsay Chatt (Genesee CC), Ashley Covel (Oakfield/Alabama), Alyssa Dewes (Clarence), Ryleigh Fitzgerald (Lew-Port), MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield/Alabama), Lydia Monin (Buffalo Arts), Emilye Rybarczyk (Amherst) and Sadie Stuart (Falconer). The team is coached by Jeff Coval, Mike Fitzgerald and Joe Bellanti.
The Lightning will compete in the ASA 18U Nationals in Canton, Ohio at the end of July.
