Immigration forum set

"Immigration and the Catholic Response" will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Catholic Center, 795 Main St.

The program is open to all and will focus on undocumented immigrants and migrant farm workers, especially those working in the Western New York area. Walter Ruehle, an attorney and director of the Upstate New York Immigration Law Project, will be the featured speaker.

Ruehle has worked for many years representing noncitizens in immigration matters such as asylum, permanent residence and removal proceedings.

Quran teachings

Leaders from the Buffalo chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will discuss teachings of the Quran on topics such as sharia law, jihad, women and non-Muslims during a session Sunday in the Millennium Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga.

Speakers include Waseem Sayed, Zia Shah, Imam Yahya Luqman and Nasir Khan.

The session will run from 2 to 5 p.m.


Newman lecture

The Rev. Charles Amico, professor emeritus of Christ the King Seminary, will present a free video and lecture on Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman, titled, "His Life and Spirituality: Pathways to Holiness and Happiness," from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the main dining room of the seminary, 711 Knox Road, Aurora.
