Billed as "a one-act play with frequent interruptions," Cameryn Moore's one-woman show "Phone Whore" is not your standard theatrical monologue. For one thing, the piece is drawn from Moore's experience as an employee at a "no-taboos" phone sex outfit. For another, as Moore wrote in a release about the show, it takes "an unflinching look at taboo, fantasy and the place of 'deviant' desires in society today."
The show will make a two-day stop in Buffalo starting at 8 tonight in Wasteland Studios (700 Main St.), with a repeat performance at 8 p.m. Saturday. Moore has been touring the show around the United States, picking up rave reviews, awards at the San Francisco and Ottawa Fringe festivals and ruffling plenty of feathers with her risque subject matter. The Buffalo debut of her show is presented by and co-produced by the Doin' Time Comedy Showcase along with Wasteland Studios.
Tickets are $12 in advance (through www.brownpapertickets.com) or $15 at the door. For more information, visit www.camerynmoore.com or www.wastelandstudios.com.
