Beechwood Service Guild will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the residence. Carmarie Dancers will give a performance, followed by installation of officers for the 2011-12 season.

Those officers are: president, Edna Cabaltica; vice president, Shirley Bennett; treasurer, Celia Pilbrow; recording secretary, Marlene Morrison; corresponding secretary, Susan Wolf; membership, Sally McGrath; devotions, Subitha Nesarajah; projects, Irene Fekete; public relations, Carol Aleksandrovs; hospitality, Andrea McCallum; birthdays, Thelma Forden; and bazaar, Carol Aleksandrovs.

The guild will conclude the season with its annual spring tea at 2 p.m. June 4 at First United Methodist Church of North Tonawanda.


The Women's Club of the University at Buffalo will install officers for the 2011-12 year during a meeting at 11 a.m. May 7 in Protocol Restaurant, 6766 Transit Road, Amherst. Co-chairwomen are Alice Russ and Pat Mleczko.

Officers are: president, Luella Kenny; vice president, Linda Eaton; treasurer, Barbara Kaye; corresponding secretary, Sarah Llinas; and members-at-large, Penny Ferguson, Joyce Lenda and Connie Rao.

On Tuesday, the group's Grace Capen Scholarships will be awarded at 5:30 p.m. in the Jacobs Executive Development Center.

The Buffalo Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau will have a dessert meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 9 in Alice's Kitchen, 3122 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.

Michele Luppino is hostess and Mary Bolton and Anita Cherkauer are co-hostesses.

The program includes the induction of graduating members of Sigma Chapter at Buffalo State College into the alumnae chapter and election and installation of officers.


A Black & White Ball will be held on Artpark's Mainstage Theater May 21. The event, which will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., includes dining, music and dancing set against the dramatic backdrop of the theater.

A silent auction will be highlighted by distinctive gifts, original art, ticket packages and dazzling baskets, prior to a special stage welcome for the guests.

Proceeds will be directed to 2011 season programming, free outdoor concerts, and the free family and children's activities presented annually by Artpark & Company.

Anthony H. Gioia is honorary chairman, and Rose Gellman, Sophia Smith, Kirsten Brydges Lawley and Christina Gentz are event chairwomen.

Sally Taylor will be the guest speaker at a buffet luncheon of the Northtowns Christian Women's Connection at 11:30 a.m. May 25 in Classics V, Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst. Her talk is titled "Wounded by Secrets, Healed by Grace." Carol Ann Gleason, the Cheerful Messenger, will give a talk on "Telling the Good News," and Lois Schrock will provide music with her autoharp. The cost is $16.
