Amish man, 19, charged with alcohol possession

CONEWANGO -- An Amish man who passed a stop sign in a horse-drawn carriage at about 1 a.m. Monday was intoxicated, Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies said.

Levi B. Hostetler, 19, of West Road, was charged with alcohol possession under age 21 after officers found beer in the carriage. He also was charged with failure to stop when entering a roadway. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Conewango Town Court at a later date.

Three injured in crash at Barre intersection

BARRE -- Two cars collided in Orleans County on Wednesday, leaving two women and a 3-year-old boy hospitalized.

At about 3:15 p.m. in Barre, a car driven by Jennifer M. Williams, 22, went through a stop sign traveling south at West Lee Road (Route 31A) and Eagle Harbor Road. Williams' Pontiac Sunfire was struck by a Chevrolet van driven by Letty S. Fuller, 53, of Medina, which was traveling east on Route 31A.

The van landed on its side on the southeast corner of the intersection, and Fuller was trapped in the van for 45 minutes. She was removed by Barre and Albion firefighters and flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where she was under evaluation.

Fuller's 3-year-old grandson, who was secured in a car seat, was taken by ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital as a precaution.

Williams was removed from the Sunfire by Barre and Albion firefighters. She was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial, where she was listed in guarded condition.

Witness intimidation alleged in Salamanca case

SALAMANCA -- Charges have been lodged against two Iroquois Drive residents for intimidating a witness in a City Court case.

Lilliana Rivera-Lopez, 21, and Juan J. Leyva, 20, were each charged with intimidation of a witness and second-degree harassment in connection with an incident Saturday.

Leyva was also charged with third-degree criminal mischief and trespass for an incident April 16 when paint was thrown onto a porch, causing damage.

Man accused of leaving crash scene is arrested

SOUTH DAYTON -- A Markhams Road man wanted in the Town of Villenova for leaving an accident scene was picked up Wednesday on Park Street, Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies said.

James T. Farley, 38, was wanted on a warrant and turned over to Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies, authorities said.

Salamanca man charged in domestic incident

SALAMANCA -- A South Main Street man has been arrested on several charges, including unlawful imprisonment, connected to a domestic incident at his house, city police said.

Frank H. Hawkins, 20, also was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault and child endangerment. He was arrested Tuesday and was being held in the city lockup awaiting arraignment in City Court.

Medina man accused of threat to assessor

PEMBROKE -- A Medina man was arrested for allegedly threatening the Pembroke town assessor last week, according to Genesee County sheriff's officials.

Darrell H. Smith, 60, of Orient Street, was arrested for threatening Town Assessor Deborah Conti over his assessment increase last Thursday at Pembroke Town Hall, officials said. Smith was issued a ticket to appear in Pembroke Town Court at 5 p.m. May 10.

Woman, 20, who dodged sentencing is jailed

LITTLE VALLEY -- A 20-year-old Jamestown woman is being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail after being arrested on a warrant for failure to show up in County Court for sentencing in a fatal crash.

Christina H. Head, 20, of Winsor Street, was taken into custody April 19 in Randolph by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies. Head faces sentencing for her guilty plea in December in County Court to leaving the scene of a fatal accident without reporting it July 4 in the Town of Coldspring. Head went off the road, and one of her two passengers, Alfred Jones, 49, of Jamestown, was killed.

Head faces two to six years in prison when her sentencing is rescheduled.

Felony DWI suspect arrested in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG -- An Indian Hill man listed on Cattaraugus County's Most Wanted List was arrested at a home on Indian Hill Road on Saturday by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies.

Michael F. Stafford, 27, was wanted on a warrant dated in August from Cattaraugus County Court. He faces felony driving while intoxicated charges. He was taken to the county jail and held without bail until he appears in County Court.
