> Timon wins in extra innings

George Szczublewski had the game-winning hit in the 10th inning to give Bishop Timon-St. Jude a 3-2 win over St. Joe's.

St. Joe's (8-3, 5-1) had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth but Timon tied the game with a pair of runs in the fifth. In the 10th, Dan Hall doubled, setting up Szczublewski for the clutch hit for the Tigers (5-1, 1-0).

Solid pitching by both teams dominated the game with Kyle Kobis picking up the win, coming on in the ninth. Timon's Billy O'Neil gave up two runs on four hits in 8 2/3 innings.

> Hamburg girls triumph

The Hamburg girls improved to 2-0 with an 84-57 win over Sweet Home in an ECIC II meet. Mary Ellen Knaszak earned two wins in the field (shot put and discus) for the Bulldogs. Brooke Dehlinger won the 100 (13.1) and the 200 (27.3) while Amanda Murray won the 1,500 (5:43.6) and the 800 (2:43.1).

Stephanie Izard won four events for Sweet Home -- the long jump, high jump, triple jump and 400 meters.

In the boys' meet, Sweet Home improved to 2-0 with a 74-67 win over Hamburg. Wayne Gordon won the 100 (10.7) and 200 (22.5) for the Panthers while Kyle Berry won the 400 (54.6) and the triple jump.

> Homer lifts North Collins

Hannah Renaldo's home run in the sixth inning to right center field gave North Collins a 1-0 win over Maple Grove in CCAA III softball. It was the fifth home run of the year for Renaldo, and North Collins (6-2) collected 11 hits. Christie Goodheart picked up the shutout win, giving up three hits with eight strikeouts.

> Friess scores three

Ashley Friess scored three goals for East Aurora in a 16-0 win over Springville. Victoria Cranwell and Victoria Budzyn each had two goals for the Blue Devils (3-1).
